The next day we just chilled around the house in the morning, then drove to Gonzaga Bay which is about 10 miles north of our house in PB. There is a beautiful bay, some houses, and the famous Alfonsinas cantina and hotel. We stopped to see Antonio (manager of Alfonsinas) and eat lunch.

![]() Unfortunately, I lost all the pics from the remainder of this trip. We stayed through Thanksgiving weekend having a huge feast on Thanksgiving day. Everything was going great until the ride home when Mike's Tahoe lost it's transmission about 60 miles south of Mexicalli. We pulled over at a mexican clinic and they helped us by putting Mike's Tahoe behind a gate at their house a few streets away. Mike gave them his EMT medicine kit full of good drugs they could use in their clinic. We moved the trailer over to my Suburban, and all 9 of us piled in for the ride home. The next morning, which was Sunday, Mike and I drove back to get his Tahoe and bring it to the Chevy dealer in El Centro, then made it back to San Diego in the early afternoon. Mike's family left that afternoon in our Suburban to head home to Carson City. His Tahoe needed about $2,000 worth of work to fix the transmission. OK, we are finally home, the trip is over, and what else could go wrong??? Well, Tammy convinced me to go to the urgent care center to have my hip x-rayed 'just in case'. I walked into the Urgent Care with crutches and after the x-rays, they made me leave in a wheel chair!!! That's right, I broke my left pelvis completely in half!!! At the doctor's office the next day, they said I would not need surgery if I didn't walk on my left leg. I was on crutches AGAIN for 3 months without the use of my left leg. That made 6 of the past 12 months on crutches!!!! Not a good year - But a very memorable trip. Till Walt rides again.... Previous |
